[Game News] High Voltage Bringing Left 4 Dead-Inspired Online Co-op Shooter to the Wii

thegrinderwii

And I, for one, can’t wait.

The game is called The Grinder and it looks to set the bar for online multiplayer on Nintendo’s Wii. Though I guess it would be unfair to expect anything less from High Voltage Software, developers behind The Conduit, which is likely the most highly anticipated Wii game of 2009, and rightfully so. High Voltage has built an amazing engine and is finally starting to use it to patch up some of the wholes in the system’s library. With gams like The Conduit, Gladiator A.D. and now The Grinder, High Voltage has quickly become the hardcore Wii gamer’s best friend.

[Game News] Metroid Prime: Trilogy – All 3 Prime Games, One Wii Disc

Nintendo has recently announced their plans to bring all 3 entries of the critically acclaimed Metroid Prime series to the Wii on a single disc with the title of Metroid Prime: Trilogy.

Trilogy will feature completely revamped versions of Metroid Prime 1 & 2 which include slightly updated visuals and the obvious inclusion of motion controls, likely the exact same scheme we saw with Metroid Prime 3. Metroid Prime 3 will be released just as it was the first time around on the Wii in August of 2007. Continue reading

Game News: Barack Obama, Sarah Palin Teamed Up to Star in We Love Golf?

A big thanks to SuperPhillip Central for noticing this.

Check out the back of the box for We Love Golf, a Wii exclusive from July 0f 2008.

welovegolf-barack-obamaNotice the character on the far left looks almost exactly like President Barack Obama, behind him is a female character that bares an uncanny resemblance to Sarah Palin, and the example Mii in the bubble at the bottom appears to be modeled after the political comedian Steven Colbert. He is America, after all, and so can you.

These resemblances are most likely mere coincidence, but strange and uncanny none-the-less. I still can’t get over how much that guy looks like President Obama.

Game News: Majora’s Mask Finally Washes Up On North American Shores, Marks the Virtual Console’s 300th Release

It’s been an overly long wait for American Gamers to finally get their hands on the Virtual Console release of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, possibly the most under appreciated Zelda title aside from Windwaker. This gem originally hit store shelves for the Nintendo 64 way back in 2000 and was one of the last hurrah’s for the 64 cartridge king. Because it released so late in the system’s life, sadly, many gamers failed to pick up a copy, depriving themselves of one of the greatest adventures of all time.

majoras-maskThis legendary game finally being released to the Virtual Console also marks two truly grand events. First off, it celebrates the 300th retro release on Nintendo’s download service, making the Wii the only place to be for all of your old-school gaming needs.

Second, Majora’s Mask’s release means all applicable Zelda titles (NES, SNES, N64 entries) have been released onto the Virtual Console. To celebrate this, we are going to bring you reviews of every single entry onto the Virtual Console starting with the timeless original making our way to Majora’s Mask.

I’ve got a LOT of gaming to do.

Review: MadWorld (Wii)

Overview:

System: Wii Exclusive
Developer: Platinum Games
Publisher: Sega
Genre: Action

Sega is really doing big things with Nintendo’s little white box. Though the two were, at one time, mortal enemies, the house that Sonic built is quickly becoming one of the biggest third-party supporters behind Nintendo’s system. The House of the Dead: Overkill treated Wii gamers to a zombie-blasting bloodbath. The upcoming title The Conduit is a game everyone is talking about. And here we are with MadWorld, one of the most stylish, violent, funny, and just pure bad ass games of this generation on any system.

What Current Generation Consoles do Most Everyview Readers Own?

It’s finally time to put the stops on our most recent poll. The question this time was “What Current Gen Gaming System do You Currently Own?” Nothing too surprising, but here they are.

  1. Nintendo Wii (26 votes)
  2. Xbox 360 (24 v0tes)
  3. Playstation 3 (15 votes)
  4. None, I’m Poor (7 votes)
  5. None, Gaming is for Kiddies (1 vote)

I honestly expected the 360 to finish in the lead with the Wii in a close second, that was the only real surprise. The results from this poll are going to be used to know which video game reviews will be most helpful to you guys, so thanks to the few of you (only 73 in all) who voted. And as always, keep reading Everyview!

Wii Finally has a Storage Solution!

nintendowiiThat’s right all you fellow Wiiners, the days of cleaning out your Wiifridgerator have finally come to an end! Nintendo has, at last, released a System Update Patch that allows users to download games directly to an SD Card and play them directly off of that card. In other words, expandable memory is finally here. Instead of being stuck to the Wii’s atrociously tiny and laughably small amount of internal memory, you are now allowed to utilize plenty of storage space.

But as excited as I am, I’m off to bed. I’ll talk more about this a little bit later, but for now you should all rejoice and celebrate with hot bread and fresh wine! And as always, keep reading Everyview!

New Poll: Which Current Gen Gaming System(s) Do You Own?

That’s right, it’s time again for another poll! Many readers may have noticed an increase in the number of video game reviews being published here on Everyview. That’s because we love gaming. And so should you. This poll is going to help us determine what gaming systems most of our readers (that would be you) own so we know what reviews would be most helpful to you guys. So hit up the poll and let your voice be heard, it’s for your own good. And don’t worry if you aren’t a gamer. There’s options for you on the poll too.

Review: Sonic Unleashed (Wii)

sonic-unleashed-wiiOverview:

System: Wii (also on: PS3, 360)
Developer: Sonic Team
Publisher: Sega
Genre: Platforming / Beat ’em up

Remember back in gaming’s golden age when Sonic was still relevant to gaming? Don’t you wish that Sega would just put Sonic back the way he’s supposed to be without all the fancy 3D and annoying extra characters? Well if so, this game is only half for you. Half? Yeah, half of the game is a great callback to the classic Sonic games of the past and half is an atrociously slow, unbearably bad beat ’em up. I’ll explain in the review.

Review: Pirates: The Key of Dreams (WiiWare)

pirates-the-key-of-dreamsOverview:

Publisher: Oxygen Games
Players: 1-4
Genre: Action
Cost: 1000 Points

A 10 dollar game about pirates? Hell yeah, sign me up! Along with zombies, ninjas and Hulk Hogan, Pirates are one of the many things God put on Earth to make life for us mere laymen more worth living. Unfortunately this may not be the game you want it to be. When I first heard of it I didn’t think there was any way it could be anything other than awesome. Well here we are, ten bucks later, and I can readily admit that I was horribly wrong.
