Hey, Everyviewers. I just wanted to stop by and tell everyone to have a happy Independence Day! It’s cold and raining here, but that hasn’t kept friends and family from coming together for good food and great times. I hope everyone has a spectacular holiday. See you guys tomorrow!

[The Everyview Update] 6/28/09
We’ve got a couple of new features to announce this week. Some of you may have noticed that we have incorporated a rating system of 5 stars at the bottom of each post. These stars ARE NOT our scores. The stars are there for you to rate each article, whether it be an editorial, news, or a review, and help give us some extra feedback so we can figure out what you like to read.
Also, we have brought back the categories section. Pick what you want to read about in the list of categories to the left, click it, and see only posts that fall under that topic. We did this because we know not every movie buff cares about the latest game releases, and not every energy drink addict cares about the latest CDs.
I’d also like to remind all registered members to upload a custom photo through their Everyview dashboard.
Special thanks to GoNintendo for featuring our The Conduit review and pushing traffic!
[The Everyview Update] 06/21/09
Posting was slow this week, we admit. We plan on making that up next week by offering you guys a some awesome reviews, but we are debating whether or not we should continue doing news articles or just focus on reviews.
Also, to all registered members who haven’t done so (most registered members), make sure you upload a personal picture which will be on display next to all of your comments. Do this in the admin area (where you’re taken to right after signing in or by clicking ‘Site Admin’ on the Log In area on the right sidebar) under your profile tab.
Here are some links from our best friends. Make sure you stop by their sites from time to time, they are all stellar sites.
- I’ve been on a cereal kick lately and Kellogg’s Corn Flakes: Touch of Honey are right up my alley (GrubGrade)
- Rune Factory: Frontier and harvests a shallow grave (SuperPhillip Central)
- I love Diet Coke. I hate tea. Diet Coke meets Green tea. I’m not sure how I could handle that. (The Impulsive Buy)
- We don’t read too many books but The Tancave keeps pumping out book reviews like crazy. (The Tancave)
- We should’ve had our review for Taco Bell’s Volcano Box up the day it launched. We didn’t (We Rate Stuff)
A huge thanks to GoNintendo for featuring our Swords & Soldiers review and increasing traffic!
[Site Updates] Upload Your Own Photo, Working on New Community Features
Ever notice those sexy silhouettes that sit next the the vast majority of comments posted on the site? Ever spent more than 3 minutes looking for a way to upload your own custom photo but can’t seem to find it? That’s because it’s not there.
But now it is! Registered users now have the ability to upload pictures from the Profile section of their Everyview Dashboard, meaning there will hopefully be less silhouettes and more naked lady readers.
On top of that, we are really wanting to build a community and get you guys active in comments and visiting the site in general. To do this I am working on some new community features that could be ready soon, in a while, or never. Anyway, I’m talking about a forum and some detailed user profiles, stuff like that. But so far I’ve made zilch progress, so I’m not sure when you’re going to get to use these features.
And as always, keep reading Everyview!

Here’s a list of some articles posted by our friend sites. Check them out and show them some love, they are all excellent sites.

- SuperPhillip Central is celebrating its very first birthday with a huge compilation of the site’s best articles throughout the adventure. Definitely worth checking out
- Marvo from The Impulsive Buy confessed his love for peeing in the ocean, taking voyeuristic pictures of women in bikinis, and removing his shirt when in public in his review for Marine Naturals Body Wash

- We Rate Stuff’s Mitch Saltzman got to go hands on with Left 4 Dead 2, the sequel to the best apocalyptic zombiefest game you’ll ever play
Special Thanks
This week the special thanks goes to The Impulsive Buy for featuring our Cardboard Box review in their THE WEEK IN REVIEWS and boosting traffic. Thanks a lot, guys!
[Site Update] New Banner, New Writer, We’re on a PodCast, and Some Minor Site Facelifts
Sorry for anyone looking for a surprise, that title pretty much gave everything away.
Anyway, some of you may have noticed the new banner floating over your favorite website. Some of you may have noticed that it is pretty lame, plain, and boring. Some may have noticed the zombies. But everyone should know that it is simply a temporary place-holder until we can get a decent prize secured for a “Make Us a Good Banner” contest.
And anyone who has paid attention throughout the past few days may have noticed a review of Common’s “Universal Mind Control” album from a mysterious writer named Thomas Campbell. He’s not actually that mysterious at all, really, but I never made him do an intro post so you just don’t know who he is. He’ll be reviewing and posting here on Everyview from now on and has a specialty in food and music as he used to be a chef and is currently a D.J.
This one mainly goes out to anyone from Everyview’s home town of Terre Haute, Indiana. We are the latest act to be abducted onto Terre Haute’s premiere podcast called “It Came From the Haute.” We’ll be doing a 2-minute segment on a schedule that has yet to be decided, but we’ll keep you posted on how things proceed from here.
Last but not least I am doing some minor site renovations. You may notice the new “(more…)” buttons at the end of most posts and the fact that images are no longer uniform and boring on the main page. But with every project comes a mess, so keep your eyes out for anything that seems funky and report it to me through our Contact page.
Thanks guys, and as always, keep reading Everyview!
The Everyview Update – 05/24/09
Here’s something new I’m going to try. I got some useful site feedback from a regular reader reporting that he opted out of reading on Sundays because he didn’t like the Weekly Recaps. His reasoning was that people will read what they want and that we could fit in more posts if we allowed articles to go up on Sunday as well. More posts means more entertainment. More entertainment means more traffic. We love traffic.
So to prove that we actually do care what our readers think about our site, allow me to introduce the Everyview Update. Taking the place of the Weekly Recap, the Everyview Update will do everything the Recap did and much more.
Awesome!
Oh, and many of you have probably noticed that this post is being published on Monday and not Sunday even though the date in the title points to a Sunday publication. This was meant to be published on Sunday, not Monday, but it turns out I have bronchitis and am very tired and feel like boogers and puke, so I slept instead. Future installments will come on Sundays.
Our Recap
- Get your Butterfinger Buzz on. Candy with 80mg of caffeine. Nice
- Free stream of the new Wilco Album goes up…
- …then crashes back down
- Majora’s Mask finally arrived on Wii’s Virtual Console

- Radiohead return to the studio to work on their new album

From our Blog Roll
- GrubGrade gives us a review of the tantalizing Arby’s Roast Turkey Ranch & Bacon Market Fresh Sandwich (what a mouthful!)
- SuperPhillip shows us that Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat is still a great game, even without that Bongo Controller
- The Impulsive Buy reviewed the Morningstar Farms Hickory BBQ Riblets, showing us how good some vegetarian food is, and why all vegetarians are always broke
- The Tancave reads and reviews Star Trek Voyager: Full Circle, a novel that through the entire series onto his must-have list
- We-Rate-Stuff takes a look at the short-lived but fondly remember Summer Heights High, obscure and underrated HBO TV series
- World 1-1 is taking an indefinite break from posting. Indefinite doesn’t mean permenant, it just means until further notice. I’m sure he’ll be back and better than ever in no time.
Special thanks
To The Impulsive Buy for featuring our Amp Energy: 3 Wide review in their WEEK IN REVIEWS and helping boost our traffic!
Weekly Recap for May 11th – 16th

We’ve started doing news articles as opposed to our standard nothing-but-reviews thing we were sticking to for a while. We realized that was stupid when we couldn’t keep enough traffic on the site to satisfy my need for readers. So far it’s a winning strategy, so expect more posts per day from now on.
Anyway, those are all of the big articles for this week. And as always, keep reading Everyview!
