[Food Review] Bob Evans Sausage, Egg and Cheese Microwavable Homestyle Breakfast Burritos

bobevansmicrowaveburritoBreakfast Burritos have been my favorite morning meal for as long as I can remember. There is just something comforting about having all of the essential breakfast foods wrapped into a soft tortilla shell.

While I definitely prefer making my own, due to the creative and artistic freedom presented by the nature of the burrito, there are times when I just don’t feel like putting the effort into making one, nor do I possess the initiative required to drive to Sonic or Hardee’s. That’s why I recently picked up these microwavable Sausage, Egg and Cheese burritos from Bob Evans. Continue reading

[Food Review] Five Guys Burgers and Fries

It can be hard to find a good burger. I don’t mean a tasty burger. I don’t mean a cheap burger. I mean a delicious, juicy, fully satisfying burger topped with plenty of crisp veggies and stuffed between a flavorful bun. Burgers like that are hard to come by. Unless, of course, you live anywhere near a Five Guys restaurant.

I had originally heard about Five Guys from a post on Grub Grade and my mind was clouded with nothing but thoughts of the delicious-looking burgers ever since. I had finally gotten my chance to satisfy my insane hunger for Five Guys during a trip to Cincinnati to see Marcy Playground. In all honesty, words can hardly describe how delicious the meal was, so I’ve included a few pictures to help me out a little. Continue reading

[Food Review] The Big Hardee From Hardee’s

When I reviewed the ho-hum Fried Bologna Biscuit from Hardee’s, I talked a little bit about a sandwich called the Big Carl. For those of you who don’t know, a chain of burger joints called Carl’s Jr. is owned by the same company behind Hardee’s. It was Carl’s that first revealed a sandwich called the Big Carl, whose major selling point was the inclusion of more meat and more cheese than a Big Mac from McDonald’s, only for less money.

Burger lovers without access to a Carl’s Jr. can rejoice, because Hardee’s is finally offering a similar burger, dubbed the Big Hardee. There are some key differences to the two burgers, such as the Big Hardee offering three patties of meat where the Big Carl provides eaters with two slightly larger patties. Continue reading

[Food Review] S’mores Pop-Tarts

smorespoptarOverview:

Nothing beats the simple pleasure of sitting by a fire reading ghost stories, singing campfire songs and making s’mores. The fresh air, open sky, and the threat of being stabbed by a hobo or eaten by a bear are just a few of the exhilarating aspects of spending a night in the wilderness.

If you’re like me, however, you’re far more likely to find yourself sitting by a microwave, looking at porn on your BlackBerry, singing Dolly Parton songs and snacking on these S’mores Pop-Tarts. I’m afraid of bugs, rain, and hobos, so I very much prefer to stay within the confines of the great indoors. Continue reading

[Food Review] Volcano Nachos

Volcano Nachos tempOverview:

The Volcano Menu has recently began to feel stale for me. I’ve eaten countless Volcano Tacos and refuse to meet Taco Bell’s price demands with the Volcano Burrito unless it’s on a special occasion (happy anniversary, honey), and the magic was just starting to fade. Then lo and behold I receive an email from Everyview reader Troy, who runs the stellar energy drink review site edjunkie.com, informing me of the Volcano Nachos. This surprised me because I had been waiting for that Volcano Crunchwrap our friends over at Grub Grade had predicted. Still, I decided to check into it as soon as possible to see what the Volcano Menu had in store for me.

I’ve ordered them, eaten them, and my bowels violently rejected them, so the only thing that’s left is to review them. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s review time. Continue reading

[Food Review] Volcano Double Beef Burrito

Overview:

volcano burritoI know it has been a long time since the Volcano Taco relaunched and brought its new friend with it. I am also aware that I had promised you guys I would review both Volcano products on the same day. Here we are, over two months later, and I’m finally writing this review. Truth be told, I didn’t even plan on reviewing it.

I had actually ordered the new Bacon Cheesy Potato, but thanks to the sub-high school education of the Taco Bell staff, I got this. Looks like the review blog gods are giving me a second chance, so I might as well take it. Continue reading

[Food Review] McDonald’s Angus Deluxe Burger

McdonaldsangusboxOverview:

I don’t eat McDonald’s too often. You see, I used to work for the fast food giant. It’s not that anything particularly gross ever went on behind the scenes, but after eating nothing but McDonald’s for lunch over a span of 3 months, it just loses any appeal it had before.

But now that they’ve finally decided to add a new high quality line of  burgers to their stale menu, I can’t help but be curious. And as our friends at GrubGrade have pointed out, the last time McDonald’s released a new burger was in 2001 with the Big N’ Nasty. I mean Tasty. Whatever, they suck. Continue reading

[Food Review] Batter Blaster (Original)

Overview:

batterblasterreviewDon’t you hate making pancakes? First you’ve got to get the bulky, square-shaped box full of annoying powder that you have to mix with milk until your wrists are filled with carpel before you can scoop batter onto a frying pan. That process requires a bowl, mixing apparatus, scooping mechanism, and something very few Americans have — time. Either that or they are just really lazy. Possibly just too fat to move.

Regardless of your reason for not making pancakes as often as you would like to, the fact still stands that you want flapjacks every once in a while and would like to be able to eat them without all the preparation. Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce Batter Blasters. Pancakes in a can.

Seriously. Continue reading

[Food Review] Dove Peanut Butter Silky Smooth Milk Chocolate Bar

Overview:

dove-peanut-butter-bagOf all the candied bars you find sitting around your local convenience or grocery store, Dove has always seemed to be one of the snottiest. One always got the impression that if it could emote, Dove would likely scoff at the idea of being stored amongst the Skor’s and Nutrageous’ of the world.  This is why I found it so odd to see a new Dove bar containing peanut butter. This is not a shot at peanut butter, as I eat it often. I would not, however, call it as a “classy” food. So is this mash-up worth your money? Continue reading

[Food Review] Crush Pound Cake

Overview:

crush-pound-cakePound cakes are possibly the most useful food item on the face of this planet. They can be used as paper weights, door stops, kids like to throw them at passing trains, mobsters tie them to the feet of disloyal clients before dropping them into the nearest river, and starving homeless people bash pizza delivery boys over the head with them to get some chow. But aside from these extremely practical uses, the pound cakes themselves can actually be eaten and are honestly quite delicious despite weighing as much as a morbidly obese hamster. Continue reading
