[Energy Drink Review] Slap Juicy: Tropical Energy + Juice

slap juicy tropicalI’ve been digging through my fridge a lot lately in an attempt to satisfy my urge for energy without emptying my wallet. This morning I woke up to get started on my seven hours worth of homework which I had 6 hours to complete, blindly stuck my hand in my mini fridge, and pulled out a green can of Slap Juicy: Tropical.

I love saying Slap Juicy.

Slap Juicy, slap juicy, slap juicy. Haha. It sounds more like a sloppy sex position than an energy drink. Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Ace Lo-Cal

ace_lo cal

The thing about Ace Lo-Cal that initially caught my eye was the horrible can. Ridden with bullet holes, World War II plane decorations, playing cards, and a pinup model from somewhere in 1922 riding a bomb, this is one of the most awful cans I’ve ever seen.

But it’s also completely bad ass! Seriously, there’s a cowgirl riding a bomb.

Straight from the can:

It’s a dog fight out there! To win, you need to stay sharp.

Crack open an Ace Energy for an immediate physical and mental lift. Ace will get you flying high and keep you in control.

Throw down an ace!

Man, this is going to be terrible! Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Blood Energy Potion

Blood Energy Potion is a new energy shot from Mana, the people behind both the Mana Energy Potion and Health Energy Potion, two products which have established themselves as fantastically effective energy shots despite their seemingly “novelty” vibe. Plus they look like something straight out of a video game, and that’s something I can totally dig. But Blood has a completely different theme than its predecessors, ditching the WoW crowd and attempting to capitalize on a whole new breed of human beings. The Vampire fans.

I hate vampires. There’s just nothing about them that appeals to me, and as far as I’m concerned they are the lamest creatures of supernatural lore this side of Frankenstein’s Monster. Maybe it’s just because I’m not a 13 year old girl enfatuated with the series of horrible Twilight books and movies, who knows? Most likely it’s because I’m a zombie guy, and I always have been. [Energy Drink Review] Sport Energy: Mango Cream

sportmangocreamenergydrinkI was digging through my fridge in an attempt to find something to help wake me up and quench my thirst when I stumbled upon the Mango Cream flavor of Sport Energy. I didn’t even know I had this, but based on the Fruit Punch flavor I reviewed last week I figured it was my safest bet for a decent energy drink.

I opened the can and lifted the vent up to my nose to get a feel for what I was about to drink. I was met with a soft scent which consisted primarily of a soft cream aroma on accompanying a sweet, fruity mango twist. The aroma was obviously artificial, but didn’t have any disgusting chemical burn. It was also surprisingly subtle, and I even had to sniff it a few times to get a proper impression. Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Sport Energy: Fruit Punch

sport fruit punch energy drink

Popping to tab on my can of the Fruit Punch flavor of Sport Energy, I noticed a powerfully sweet and absolutely appetizing aroma lingering from the can. Obviously artificial but not overpoweringly so, the sugary scent serves as a good sign of things to come. I was initially scared this would be another terrible drink that I regret pouring into my body, but things are looking up so far.

The first sip yielded a pleasant flavor, artificially flavored but sweetened with real sugar. It made be think of a carbonated Hawaiian Punch more than anything, which is to be expected. The carbonation level is a little high, but after the drink breathes for a few moments it subsides and becomes much more refreshing and drinkable. The only problem I really have with Sport is that it feels really heavy on my stomach, so I couldn’t imagine how it would work for someone trying to use it as a sports drink. Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Steaz Energy: Orange

steaz tempAs we all know, organic energy drinks are usually disgusting. There’s just something about being filled with enough chemicals to kill a rhino that makes energy drinks so appealing in the first place. The chemicals are often necessary for an energy drink to be good. They either cover up all the bad tastes or simply paralyze your tongue so that you can’t taste them.

Steaz is different, though. This is the first Organic Energy Drink I’ve ever drank that I actually enjoy drinking.

When opening the can, however, first impressions are weak. The aroma that strikes is an earthy, dirty tea scent that is every so slightly reminiscent of that God-awful Black Jack Gunpowder Green Tea crap I reviewed a while back. Thankfully, though, there is a pleasant Orange undertone added that does a decent job of bring in whole package together. It may not smell great, but it’s pretty good for an organic tea-based energy drink. Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Stacker 2 YJ Stinger: Enraged Raspberry

Overview:

stacker2yjstingerenragedraspberryThis has been sitting in my fridge for about three weeks now, and I’m still pretty reluctant to try it. I bought this at the same time as Sinful Citrus, and have been terrified to open the can ever since. But I’ve now got about 20 energy drinks sitting on my floor just waiting to be reviewed, so I figured I would go ahead and get this one out of the way. Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Awake: Good Morning Energy

awakeenergyOverview:

We all know mornings are very important and that they shape the rest of your day. A day that starts with a good morning will almost always end with a good night. But if you wake up groggy and grumpy, stump your foot on the dresser, burn your toast, cut yourself shaving, lose a sock, and forget to brush your teeth, your day will likely end by finding out that you have syphilis. Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Monster Import

monsterimportenergyOverview:

Monster Import is the newest flavor of Monster Energy. ‘Import’ isn’t just a fancy word they slap on the front of the can for connoisseurs like myself, no, the drink is actually imported straight from Amsterdam, the official home of public fornication and casual drug abuse. If you don’t want to try Import for the fact that it is a new Monster, then at least try it for that. Continue reading

Review: Shockwave Energy

shockwave-energyOverview:

Last week I wrote a review of the Speedway exclusive energy drink, Shockwave Mango Energy Juice. Today I’m back with a review of of the original flavor, Shockwave Energy.

While I was impressed with the overall taste and quality of the Mango blend, I noted significant lack of kick and originality as being major factors to work against the otherwise impressive beverage. Does the original flavor get right all the things its off-spin missed?
