[Game News] Scribblenauts Releases Today, Review ASAP

It’s finally here. Today is the day that Scribblenauts, the extremely innovative DS title that lets players “Write Anything, Solve Everything,” and I am beyond psyched. Since the game’s unveiling I have been watching it very closely, and several months and a ridiculous amount of awards later, Scibblenauts is finally washing up on US shores this morning.

We’ll have our review up as soon as possible, hopefully later today if all goes well, but no later than tomorrow. Right now I’m sitting in my English lecture, listening to the professor babble about hand sanitizer and keyboards or something. I’m far too busy making a list of words to try in Scribblenauts to care about something as trivial as a college education. Psh.

[Game Impressions] The New Nintendo Channel

A new update was released for the Nintendo Channel today, and what an update it is. After installing the new version of the channel and booting it up, I was literally taken aback by how much of an overhaul actually occurred. But before we get into my impressions, here’s Nintendo’s official statement regarding the Updated Nintendo Channel.

NEW-AND-IMPROVED NINTENDO CHANNEL GETS UPDATED FEATURES AND WEEKLY SHOW

Sept. 14, 2009

The Wii™ console’s Nintendo Channel is getting a makeover. On Sept. 14, the channel, which provides users with videos and information about current and upcoming Nintendo products, re-launches with a new look and feel. Some of the upgrades include higher-quality streaming videos, lists of top games that other viewers recommend and a new ability to rate and recommend Nintendo DS™ games.

Current features of the Nintendo Channel will remain, including Nintendo DS demo downloads and an extensive lineup of videos about Wii and Nintendo DS games.

As part of the update, Nintendo Channel will also premiere Nintendo Week, a weekly, hosted series about what’s happening in the world of Nintendo. The premiere episode includes an in-depth look at Mario and Luigi™: Bowser’s Inside Story, an interview with the developers behind the Wii version of Guitar Hero 5, plus coverage of the new Nintendo DSi colors, Nintendo DSiWare games and other surprises.

[The Everyview Update] 09/13/09

Hey guys, we’ve seen a few notable updates this past week. First off, Everyview celebrated its very first birthday just yesterday, and what a celebration it was. If you have yet to do so, head on over the the birthday post and deliver your birthday wishes.

Next announcement I’d like to make is that Patrick O’brien and Brandon Thompson have both partially come out of retirement, so you’ll start seeing posts from them in the near future. Tate Molnar also plans on offering up another contribution, but God only knows when that will finally happen.

That about sums it up. Anyone who read last week’s update was undoubtedly disappointed when I didn’t reveal a contest despite claiming I would. Don’t worry, it’s going up today, I promise.

For now, however, let’s take a look at the Weekly Awards which are handed out to five very deserving blogs every week.

Happy First Birthday, Everyview!

That’s right, Everyview readers. Today marks the first anniversary of this humble review site. We’ve grown immensely in the past year, going from Blogger to WordPress to finally getting our own domain name and experiencing more than a few layout changes in the process. Thanks to everyone who stuck with us through those first few days as Everyview.com, by there way. They were rough and everything was a mess, but you guys kept checking in on our progress and showing your support, so thank you.

This site has gone from a small hobby to my biggest investment and most time-consuming activity I do, but it is all worth it and I love doing every bit of it. I remember the day I started it, rather vividly as a matter of fact. I was sitting in class at college and desperately wanted to do anything that wasn’t my programming assignment. I remembered talking with my good friend Tate Molnar about making a website, so I took that idea and ran with it. Continue reading →

[Movie Review] Sin Nombre (DVD)

Overview:

Sin Nombre (which Wikipedia tells us is Spanish for “without name”) tells the story of Willy (aka Casper, played by Edgar Flores), a teenage member of a ruthless Mexican gang. Quickly after he helps initiate a pre-teen named Smiley into his inner-circle, a personal secret Casper has been hiding is exposed, and he is abruptly betrayed by gang leader Lil’ Mago.

Shortly after, Mago, Casper and Smiley attempt to rob a train containing migrants attempting to immigrate to America. Still stinging from the betrayal, Casper takes revenge on Mago and sends Smiley away while he stays behind on the train in hopes of escaping. While hiding out from his revenge-seeking gang members, he befriends a girl named Sayra (Paulina Gaitán) who is attempting to escape to America with her family.

[Candy Review] Black Jack Chewing Gum

Chewing gum is great for many things. It’s perfect for stepping in, it can be used as a decoration for the overly plain bottoms of desks and tables, it can provide the motivation for a much-needed haircut, and it does a great job of hiding an alcoholic’s liquor breath.

[Energy Review] Crave Energy Drink Mix

Overview:

I have had only two experiences with energy powders prior to Crave, both of which were very bad. The first time I encountered an energy mix was not my choice, as former contributor Tate Molnar decided to ruin all of our drinking water by adding some disgusting mix to it while we were camping. The second time I decided to snort it, which is just plain stupid.

But because of these two experiences, I have refused to go anywhere near any kind of energy mix for quite some time. Finally over my ludicrous fear of powdered energy, I’ve decided to give these little packets another shot, this time in the form of Crave Energy Drink.
