[Savings] Save $.03 Per Gallon at Speedway Gastations

speedway savings

All November long drivers who purchase gas at a Speedway Gas Station and use their Speedy Rewards Card with be rewarded with 3¢ off of every gallon. That may not seem like much, but it’s free savings. At Kroger Gas Stations you can save up to 10¢ per gallon, but that’s only if you purchase at least $100 in groceries first. And with gas prices going back up, you can use all the help you can get.

[Food Review] The Flying Cow from McDonald’s

Once in a great while a food so great, so cheap, and so filling comes into existence. Fellow food lovers, that time has cometh! I speak of the flying cow, a tasty and oh so filling meal in its own right. I’m sure you read this now in curiosity, or just so you can spite me in comments at the end, but either way you’re reading and that’s what matters!

The flying cow is a surprisingly simple sandwich to create. Factor in a price tag of about two dollars (depending on your use of a double cheeseburger or the “Mcdouble”) and it becomes something children and adults alike can enjoy.  I simply go to the nearest McDonald’s, and ask for a Double cheeseburger and a McChicken sandwich. Some may stop here saying “Hamburger AND a chicken sandwich? Pft get out of here!” but I will not be leaving. Continue reading

[Music Review] Kate Miller-Heidke “Curiouser”

kate_miller-heidke_curiouserA lot of people have a sour taste in their mouth when it comes to Pop Music. They think it’s all supposed to be sugary lyrics paired together with subpar music and a pretty face, and to a degree that is the case. The music industry gets behind acts of solo artists who are attractive and produce inoffensive music. The problem is, that music is pretty offensive to people with ears, who have to listen to it repeatedly on every freaking radio station within a 2,000 mile radius.

But there are bands/performers on pop music stations that don’t suck. My No. 1 example is always Justin Timberlake. That guy is freaking money. But for every Timberlake we get five Soulja Boy’s  and their music pollutes our eardrums. Continue reading

[Game Review] Borderlands (Xbox 360)

System: Xbox 360 (Also on: PS3, PC)
Developer: Gearbox Software
Publisher: 2K Games
Genre: FPRPG (First-Person Role-Playing Game)

I first heard about borderlands through a mailing list from Gearbox Software, the company behind the game. For months I waited eagerly as more information about this new FPS/RPG surfaced, and about how wicked awesome the designers promised it would be. Now that the game is finally out, I am here to inform you that it is, in fact, wicked awesome. Continue reading

[Gum Review] Trident Layers

trident_layers_gumTrident Layers come in two different flavors, Green Apple + Golden Pineapple and Wild Strawberry + Tangy Citrus. I don’t usually chew fruit-flavored gum– actually I don’t chew gum in general unless I’m trying to cover the smell of prostitute drool and cheap booze when I go to church, and that isn’t all that often. However, I recently stumbled across a few pieces of each flavor of Trident Layers and decided to give them a chance.

Big mistake. Continue reading

[Games] Virtual NES

nes

There are a lot of great flash game sites out there, but nothing beats playing the old classic NES games. Legend of Zelda, Super Dodgeball, Super Mario Bros. and many, many more are now available online. Virtual NES boasts a large selection of games for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. I now have more ways to kill time in my web-page design class than ever.

You can check out Virtual NES here (don’t worry it’s totally legal)

Now to get back to playing Contra.

[Game Review] I MAED A GAM3 W1TH ZOMBIES 1N IT (Xbox 360 Indie Game)

i-maed-a-gam3-w1th-z0mb1es1-box-artSystem: Xbox 360
Developer: Ska Studios
Publisher: Ska Studios
Genre: Arcade/Shooter

I don’t usually get into indie games, which are usually just prettier versions of games I could play for free on the internet, but something about zombies makes me do things I wouldn’t normally do. The title alone is enough to catch my attention, but the solid five-star community rating sold me. Oh, the $1 price tag didn’t hurt either.

There isn’t a ton to say about I MAED A GAM3 W1TH ZOMBIES 1N IT, as it’s certainly a simple game. The action is fast, the music is hilarious, and the concept is totally solid. That being said, it’s totally worth the 80 MS points. Continue reading

Super Mario Zombie

This was my costume last night. I was really proud of how it turned out, so I figured I’d share some pictures with you guys. The whole thing cost about $20 to put together, and most of that was on make up. I borrowed the bib overalls from a friend, bought the turtleneck for $8 from Walmart, and the cap is the Club Nintendo Elite prize. I did all of the makeup and such myself, and my girlfriend helped me make the gash out of clay.

There are more pictures after the jump.
