[The Everyview Update] 2/28/10

Before we let you know what reviews we’ve currently got under way, we would like to apologize for the recent lack of posts. We’ve all been really busy and really broke. Really, really broke. But hopefully things will start to pick back up soon, as we’ve got a brand new writer joining the team this week. We’ll leave the introduction up to him, but hopefully he’ll bring a lot to the site.

Anyway, here are some of the reviews currently in the works:

  • Product review for Nuclear Energy
  • Black Dynamite Movie Review
  • No More Heroes 2 Wii Review
  • Smackdown VS Raw 2010 Wii Review
  • Microsoft Zune HD Tech Review
  • HTC Hero for Sprint Tech Review
  • Wheaties Fuel Food Review
  • Vuka Workout Energy Drink Review

[Energy Review] Uranium Energy Powder (Yellow Cake)

Yes, you red the title right. Uranium is a member of the Nuclear Energy family of caffeinated candy powders, and it is easily the most awesomely flavored energy product I’ve ever come across. I mean, who doesn’t just love cake? It’s delicious!

But you already knew how awesome cake was. What you may not know is how awesome a cake-flavored energy powder actually is. Which I don’t understand. It’s caffeine-infused candy powder that tastes like cake. Continue reading

[Sadistic Childhood Game Review] Red Rover

Back in September, I got “doped up” and went on a fanatical rant about a particular item which ruined my childhood and permanently scarred me as a human being. Sure, drug addiction is a serious problem, but after getting literally dozens (five) of reads and being named a site admin for the most socially relevant Facebook group ever created, I’d say the experience was worth it and I was looking forward to sharing various “trippy” experiences with our beloved readers.

Unfortunately, while the crippling addiction has continued, the mind bending posts have not. But fear not, as another of my most hated childhood memories came flooding back as I sat committing minimum wage time theft at work today.

Now that the four generic sleeping pills are down the gullet, it’s time for your cummupins, Red Fucking Rover! Continue reading

[Game Review] Bioshock 2 (Xbox 360)

System: Xbox 360 (Also on: PS3, PC)
Developer: 2K Marin
Publisher: 2K Games
Genre: First-Person Shooter

Bioshock was a wicked game. It had a great story, great visuals, and was an interesting shooter. It earned the awards given to it and became a platinum hit.

Bioshock 2 released last week for 360, PS3 and PC atop a lot of hype from the underground. It would have mulitplayer, a new story, Playing as the Big Daddy sounded hella tight and I was excited to try my sea legs out inside a massive 50’s era diving suit, and all the bells and whistles that would make it a smash sequel were present. Sadly, while it is a good game, 2K Marin fails to deliver the punch that 2K Boston, the team behind the original, did. Continue reading

[Food Review] Cupcake Pebbles

I love cereal. I love cupcakes. Cupcake-flavored cereal? Sign me up!

Cupcake Pebbles is essentially exactly what the name implies. The classic Pebbles shapes sweetened and flavored to taste like delicious, tasty little cupcakes. It’s a fantastic idea, really, and when you think about it there has been a pretty sizable explosion of food products that taste like various forms of cake despite being other things. Take, for example, that BK Birthday Cake Milkshake, which was delicious. Something else that comes to mind is the Yellow Cake flavor of Nuclear Energy Powder, which is the best flavor of that particular line of products.

Do the Cupcake Pebbles manage to topple Fruity Pebbles as my Pebbles of choice? Let’s find out. Continue reading

[Movie Review] The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus

It’s a risky move driving sixty miles to see a movie you have been anticipating for over a year. It very quickly puts the movie into a rarified air, and you view it under a different kind of microscope because of the distance you traveled to view it. This was exactly my situation with The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. Some might not recognize the film by it’s title, but it is the film that has the dubious distinction of being the final film of Heath Ledger.

The film focuses on a traveling London stage show of the same name, one that looks for people to throw away their inhibitions and prior machinations about what the show appears to be (another cheap, dirty nickel show), and to free their minds to their imaginations. Dr. Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) and his band of misfits, including his daughter Valentina and a brash little person Percy (Verne Troyer).

One night after a particularly rough outing, the group is crossing a bridge when a flash of lightning allows them to see the silhouette of a man hanging under the bridge. After a rescue operation, we are now introduced to Tony (Ledger), and the rest of the film follows his impact on the traveling show, as well as the on-going gambles between Dr. Parnassus and Mr. Nick/The Devil, played fantastically by Tom Waits. [Food Review] Milky Way Simply Caramel

The only actual goal I’ve ever had in life (aside from the one of playing in the NBA which officially died after I failed to make my sixth grade A-team) is to compose a truly important piece of writing a large number of people could cling onto.

In that spirit, for the second time in as many days, I’m reviewing a candy bar. Continue reading

[Game Review] Trivial Pursuit (Wii)

System: Wii (Also on: Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, iPhone)
Developer: Electronic Arts
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Genre: Board Game/Trivia

Few games capture the desire for people to show off exactly how intelligent they are like board game staple Trivial Pursuit. The game is both simple and complex all at once, as you circle a spoked wheel game board acquiring pieces that encompass a variety of subjects. With this game, you can truly prove just how many obscure books or 3 AM History Channel specials you’ve watched.

When I stumbled across a version for the Wii, I was incredibly curious and not just because I have a kitten that enjoys swatting any and all game pieces from a board at every crucial moment. But because I have actually had a good experience with board game based video games. Ironically, it’s the exact opposite of film based video games, in that the developers keep the heart of the game true to the base of the board game. Continue reading

[Energy Review] Plutonium Energy Powder (Pear)

Plutonium is one of three flavors from a line of caffeinated candy dust called Nuclear Energy Powder. We’ve got all three flavors to review, so we’re going to handle this like we did with the Nitrous Monsters. First we’ll publish our individual reviews for each flavor, then a review for the line of products as a whole, with links to each flavor’s review.

This is the second flavor of Nuclear we are reviewing, following Radium. Plutonium is a Pear flavored candy, which seems to turn a lot of people off. Candy flavored like pears? It’s not all that weird, really. There are pear-flavored jelly beans. And they even have a pear-flavored jellybean-flavored pudding. So a pear flavored powder might be pretty good, right? Continue reading

[Energy Review] Radium Energy Powder (Raspberry Lemonade)

Radium is one of three flavors from a line of caffeinated candy dust called Nuclear Energy Powder. We’ve got all three flavors to review, so we’re going to handle this like we did with the Nitrous Monsters. First we’ll publish our individual reviews for each flavor, then a review for the line of products as a whole, while links to each flavor’s review.

The reason I’m doing Radium (Raspberry Lemonade) first is because it’s the most normal sounding flavor of the three, with the other two being Pear (Plutonium) and Yellow Cake (Uranium). Yeah, that’s right. Energy Powder flavored like effing cake. Continue reading
