[DVD Review] Flight of the Conchords: The Complete Second Season

Overview:

flight of the conchords“Flight of the Conchords,” an HBO musical comedy series about a folk parody duo from New Zealand who moves to New York to make it big in America, set the bar pretty high with it’s first season. The show was fresh and insanely funny, proving to be on of the best comedies currently on American television. But as I stated in a previous review (the first review I ever wrote for the site!), the season started with a disappointingly flat first episode.

Well, for my six or so regular readers (for fun I decided to multiply the real total by three) who have been dying to know whether or not the second season picked up steam, your torturous wait is finally over, as “The Complete Second Season” of the series hit DVD shelves this week. Here we go! Continue reading

[Food Review] Volcano Nachos

Volcano Nachos tempOverview:

The Volcano Menu has recently began to feel stale for me. I’ve eaten countless Volcano Tacos and refuse to meet Taco Bell’s price demands with the Volcano Burrito unless it’s on a special occasion (happy anniversary, honey), and the magic was just starting to fade. Then lo and behold I receive an email from Everyview reader Troy, who runs the stellar energy drink review site edjunkie.com, informing me of the Volcano Nachos. This surprised me because I had been waiting for that Volcano Crunchwrap our friends over at Grub Grade had predicted. Still, I decided to check into it as soon as possible to see what the Volcano Menu had in store for me.

I’ve ordered them, eaten them, and my bowels violently rejected them, so the only thing that’s left is to review them. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s review time. Continue reading

Since I don’t have anything to talk about, make sure you stop by all of our friend sites and give them some love!

bioshock boxartOverview:

System: Xbox 360 (Also on PS3, PC)
Developer: 2K Boston

The majority of people, critics and consumers alike, refuse to believe that video games will ever be considered a true form of art. They claim that games are too crude and shallow to provide a truly inspirational and emotionally satisfying experience. For those people, here’s BioShock. Proof that video games are evolving into something that can be viewed as true art.

Now would you kindly go ahead and read this review. Continue reading

[Music Review] Portugal. The Man “The Satanic Satanist”

portugal.theman satanicsatanistOverview:

I go through these phases where I discover wonderful bands at a breakneck pace, and then I sort of toil around for a bit waiting to see which of the bands will self-destruct, which will find mainstream success, or which ones will put out great music for years to come. Lucky for me I’m in one of my discovery phases right now, and one of the new bands I’ve uncovered for my listening pleasure is Portugal. The Man.

Portugal. The Man definitely and unquestionably have an interesting band name. The name has a background that involves David Bowie and a planned book by one of the band’s members, and it’s obviously an attention grabbing name. I’m actually still a little puzzled as to what it actually means. Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Die Hard Sports Energy

Die Hard Energy DrinkOverview:

Sports/Energy Drink hybrid products are certainly nothing new. The trend was started with Brawndo: The Thirst Mutilator, which was actually the very first sports energy drink on the market. Since its release there have been more and more of these hybrids that are designed to deliver a decent kick while keeping your body hydrated for strenuous exercise, something that standard energy drinks can’t do.

Straight from the can:

Scientifically formulated to deliver effective hydration, responsible energy and natural flavors to ensure optimum performance before, during and after physical activity.

Responsible energy? Sounds boring. Continue reading

[Music Review] Ben Harper and Relentless 7 “White Lies for Dark Times”

Overview:

benharperandrelentless7I enjoy good ol’ beer-in-hand Rock and Roll music, and unfortunately what we’re told is “Rock” these days (Nickelback, Hinder, etc.) seems to want to substitute straight-forward rock power and that beer-in-hand feeling with sappy, horrible lyrics, tacky musicianship and a nice cold wine cooler. Luckily there are bands out there who don’t shy away from what Rock and Roll should be, and this album is a throwback to those days when great rock music wasn’t only played on Classic Rock stations. Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Stacker 2 YJ Stinger Sinful Citrus

Overview:

stacker2yjstingersinfulcitrusThe YJ Stinger brand is pretty close to being deceased, and for good reason. Though its lame TV advertisements featuring pro wrestlers helped it become one of the first mainstream energy drinks, it quickly fell off of consumer radars due to its inaccessibility.

The drink was released in four flavors, all of which failed on the market. The Sinful Citrus flavor has the reputation for being the best, though, so I figured this would be the least painful flavor to try.

But the experience was still pretty painful. Continue reading

[DVD Review] Mad Men: Season Two

mad menOpening Remark:

Oh sure, the AMC series “Mad Men,” set in the lavish world of a 1960’s advertising agency, may have wowed “real” critics and Emmy voters alike, but who cares? What I think most of you want to know is, does it meet the ever-so-high standards of us, the amateur hacks of Everyview?

Yes. Continue reading
