[Movie Review] Sugar (DVD)

Overview:

sugarI’ve desperately been seeking out ways to become more popular with the Everyview public, and after struggling to find success on my own, I sought out the help of my good friend Zac Pritcher for advice. Seeing as how he frequently calls me, usually in the middle of the night, to remind me how he towers over me in readership by a count of 782-to-1, I thought he’d have some good advice.

Well after giving me about a 15 minute lecture about interrupting his study habits (he’s cramming very hard as next week he finally becomes old enough to earn that ever elusive driver’s permit) his advice was for me to “continue doing what I do best,” which I guess is reviewing movies and TV shows no one is familiar with.

Call me a skeptic if you must, but I have my doubts on this one, and am curious if there was perhaps some underlining smarminess I didn’t pick up on. But either way I have no other ideas, so here it is my review of the indie baseball drama Sugar which found its way onto DVD shelves this week. Continue reading

[Energy Drink Review] Black Jack Gunpowder Green Energy Tea

blackjackgunpowdergreenStraight from the Can:

Captain’s Log: 17 July, 1677

What a grand day this 17 of July be. With faithful Grog as lookout, me crew boarded the Grand Madame in the dead of night and by morn more than the night lay dead. The treasure, rare teas from the seven seas with tastes more satisfyin than my last port call. Our plunder, we be warned, does strange things… desires, urges, energy of gunpowder. [The Everyview Update] 08/30/09

Here are some other awesome posts from awesome sites that you should go check out. If you’re awesome, that is.

[Food News] Baconlube: A Bacon-Flavored Personal Lubricant

baconlubeThis is not a joke.

The people over at J&D’s have a firm-standing belief that everything should taste like bacon. Everything. They’ve already made porky products such as Bacon Salt (our review), a bacon-flavored mayonnaise called Baconnaise, and a Bacon Lip Balm that shimmers with all of the vibrancy of artery-clogging pig grease.

But that isn’t enough, not by a long shot. Now J&D’s is taking bacon into the bedroom with this super slippery personal lubricant, giving a whole new meaning to the word “porking.”

It’s not yet for sale, but bacon enthusiasts looking to get their bacon strip extra crispy can head on over to the J&D website and sign up for beta testing.

[Video Game Review] Flipnote Studio (DSiWare)

flipnoteOverview:

The DSiWare Shop has been a pretty dismal place since its launch. There have been a few gems, sure, like Asphalt 4 and Mighty Flip Champs, but for the most part we are just getting bad games, useless apps, and overpriced re-releases of minigames from minigame collections. The selection of available titles is so weak, I’ve begun to question whether anything truly awesome would ever come from the service, or if it was doomed to be a footnote at the bottom of Nintendo’s latest DS upgrade.

Finally, a game has come that makes it crucial for you to buy a DSi, and it isn’t even a game! Flipnote Studio is a free program gamers can download from the DSi Shop channel and create their very own flipbooks. Continue reading to find out why this free program serves as the DSi’s killer app. Continue reading

[Music Review] “Lose Our Heads” by Smile Case

smilecaseOverview:

Smile Case is primarily a one-man band from Canada. Ben Andress, the singer/guitarist/songwriter, owns his own record label called Blacktop Records and records lots of smaller Canadian bands. “Lose Our Heads” is his first studio album that he produced himself with the help of a few friends.

Let’s check this moose out, eh? Continue reading

[Food Review] Hardee’s Fried Bologna Biscuit

bologna biscuitOverview:

A few days ago our good friends over at GrubGrade told the hungry world about the new Fried Bologna Biscuit from Hardee’s. Needless to say, eaters who were expecting a new sandwich similar to the Big Carl from Carl’s Jr, Hardee’s sister establishment, were quite disappointed. Average Southerners or poor Northerners (yo), however, will find instant appeal in the new breakfast biscuit.

Will Hardee’s newest morning menu item turn bologna into the new ham? There’s only one way to find out. It’s review time! Continue reading

[Food & Drink Review] MolliCoolz! Shakers: Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate, and Cookies & Cream

Overview:

mollicoolzWho doesn’t love a good milkshake? Unfortunately for everyone, however, there are several things usually required to get your hands on a delicious, creamy shake. Moving, for instance, is one that many Americans frown upon. No one wants to get in the car and drive to Dairy Queen or walk back and forth from the freezer to their blender to create a homemade milkshake, no sir, not in 2009. The future is now.

That’s where MolliCoolz! Shakers come into play. A little plastic cup containing some kind of brilliant technology that allows users to create delicious milkshakes by adding milk and shaking. Yes there still is a little effort involved, but at least it only takes 30 seconds of sweating and heavy breathing to create a delightful treat. Drink up, all that shaking is exhausting! [The Everyview Update] 08/23/09

Not much has changed this week, other than my laziness carrying over from last week even though I promised it wouldn’t. But I’m getting ready to go back to college, and there’s no better time to write a review than during a boring but severely important lecture, so I’m sure the site will be back to its regular flow soon.

Here are the weekly awards handed out to some other spectacular sites. Be sure to check them out!

And as always, keep reading Everyview!

[Video Game Review] Asphalt 4: Elite Racing (DSiWare)

asphalt 4Overview:

System: Nintendo DSi (Also on iPhone)
Developer: Gameloft
Publisher: Gameloft
Genre: Racing

There are very few good realistic DS racers out there, and there are even less enjoyable titles available for download on Nintendo’s DSiWare service, so what are the odds that a great racing game would come along and be available exclusively via download? Not very good. Stepping up to the plate to take on this seemingly impossible task is Gameloft and a dual screen rendition of their Asphalt 4, originally released on the iPhone.

Can this downloadable racing title really stack up against full-retail game card releases, or is this yet another forgettable title in the DSiWare’s lineup of shovelware? Continue reading
