[TV Review] “Nurse Jackie” Pilot Episode

nurse-jackie-showtime-premiereOverview:

If most networks aired “Nurse Jackie,” a new dramady series about an opinionated veteran nurse who plays by her own rules, it would likely seem trite and obnoxious. But when aired on Showtime, a network noted for shows about serial killers, sex addicted (and statutory rapist) novelists and the erotic escapades of Henry VIII, it is bound to generate at least a little interest.

Enticed when I saw the ad to stream the show’s pilot episode for free on Showtime’s official site, I gave ‘er a view and while I wasn’t blown away, I must say I left the show feeling fairly satisfied. Continue reading

[Movie Review] Up (Theatrical)

up-movieOverview:

Pixar just won’t stop. Every summer, it seems, they keep making movies that look like children’s movies but in the end turn out being something far more. Last summer they showed the world Wall-E, a seemingly cute and innocent movie about robots in love, but under the surface lied a tragic tale of our world being destroyed at the hands of global warming, heartbreak, betrayal, and perhaps the easiest to relate to, obesity. [TV Review] “Breaking Bad” Season Two Finale

walt-and-jesse

Overview:

This is the third time I have written about the AMC series “Breaking Bad,” a show about a chemistry teacher who turns to making crystal meth after discovering he has lung cancer. In my humble opinion, it is the best show on television right now.

After weeks of teasers hinted at some wild shit going down in the season finale, my anticipation level was at an all time high when the season finale aired Sunday. After lifting my expectations, would the series be able to meet them? Continue reading

[Film Review] Adventureland

adventurelandposterOverview:

A recent college graduate returns to his hometown, and ends up having to work at a local amusement park called ‘Adventureland.’

Review:

The film comes to us from director Greg Mottola, of Superbad fame. Anyone going into this movie expecting Superbad Part Deux is going to be sorely disappointed, but that hardly means this movie isn’t good, because it’s a quality film with a lot to say, and it says it in an enjoyable and entertaining manner. It’s just not full of belly-laughs like Mottola’s last film. Continue reading

[Film Review] Killshot

Overview:

Last summer, I read Elmore Leonard’s crime novel “Killshot” and enjoyed it. Then weeks later I read that shooting of a feature film based on the book had wrapped and I got excited. Not simply because I was eager to see the movie, but because after years of listening to my more intellectual friends complaining about how Hollywood movies ruined books they had enjoyed, I was FINALLY going to get to stroke my own intellectual beard and utter those words that gave them so much smug satisfaction: “the book was much better.” Then the movie essentially made the argument for me by going strait-to-DVD. A Much Deserved Thanks to all Who Voted in “Blank Check” VS “First Kid”

The results are officially off the wire, and they have declared me, Clay Cunningham, and, most importantly, “First Kid” the winner of the first ever “Master Debate.”

These last few days have been rough on me, with the constant campaigning creating many sleepless nights. What’s worse is that on the rare occasions when sleep did occur, I would quickly be awoken from my slumber, drenched in frigid sweat, as all I could dream of was living in a nightmarish world where people were more inclined to vote for “Blank Check.” Luckily for all of us, that world will never come to be. “Blank Check” VS “First Kid” The Results Are In!

Hey there everyone, today marks the 7th day of our premiere Master Debate’s Launch which means it’s time to close the polls and announce the winner! We had lots of votes and tons of support, so thanks to everyone who voted!

The face off was between Everyview Editor Clayton Cunningham and up-and-coming Contributor Andrew Majors. The debate was an intense and bloodthirsty battle between two “classic” live-action Disney films from the early t0 mid 1990’s, “First Kid” and “Blank Check” a battle worthy of gladiatorial status and recognition. Movie News: New Ghostbusters Film?

In news that appeals to me as a man-child, The LA Times recently got some news from one of the franchises stars, Dan Aykroyd, about the next installment of the 80’s Film franchise. The entire gang seems to be on board, including Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, producer Ivan Reitman, and the final piece to the puzzle, BILL FREAKING MURRAY! That’s right, baby. Bill Murray is busting ghosts again. And you can color me bonered. Aykroyd has mentioned that production could start as soon as this winter!
