Upcoming Review: Dragon View for the SNES

Most people probably haven’t heard of this game and actually neither have I until a few days ago, but judging from a few people I’ve talked to it’s not that bad. I don’t plan to review only things that are good. But this should give you something to look forward to from me. I’ll also gladly take any requests for games on NES, SNES, Gameboy Color/Advance.

Review: Spore Origins (iPhone)

Spore Origins

Overview:

Here is a game from the Application Store on the iPhone that caught my eye. I haven’t been too impressed with most of the games that have came out on the application store so far but this one isn’t bad. As most of you know Spore has been one of the most anticipated computer games from Will Wrights’ library for almost 8 years now and it’s finally out. Well for the iPhone they did kind of a dumbed down version which only includes a small stage of the game where you evolve as a cell. But what more could we ask for from an iPhone.

Review: World of Goo (WiiWare)

Overview:

I’m just gonna say this to go ahead and get it out of the way. World of Goo is by far the greatest game on Nintendo’s WiiWare service, and one of the best on the console itself. This gem is one of those games that show just how good a game can be when the people making are doing it because creating games is what they love, not to earn a paycheck. It easily proves that gaming can be considered not only truly sophisticated entertainment, but also one of the most creative forms of art. Can you tell I love this game?

World of Goo was developed by a team called 2D Boy which consists of only three members, only two of which did the majority of the work on Goo before expanding to 3. The game released a couple of weeks ago for download on WiiWare for 1500 Wii Points, or $15.

PackRat Paragraphs: Twilight Princess Belt Buckle

Twilight Princess Belt BuckleAlright, so anyone who’s ever met me knows I’m a huge Zelda fan. I mean HUGE. That is why I had no problem dropping $20 for this awesome belt buckle I found at Hot Topic a while back. It’s definitely far from the most awesome piece of Zelda related fandom I own, but it’s still pretty nifty.

I’ve found it for as high as thirty bucks on the e-webs, which is $10 more than I paid. I imagine by the time I’m 65 it should be worth a fine sum in rupees!

Hands-On: Dragon Ball Origins (DS)

Overview:

Dragon Ball Origins is Atari’s newest addition the the Dragon Ball franchise and was developed exclusively for the Nintendo DS. I was recently messing around on my Wii’s Nintendo Channel and noticed there was a demo up for the game. Even though the game’s already out I know I can’t afford to buy a copy for review, so I figured a hands-on with the newest demo would be the next best thing.

Click read more for my hands-on with the game.

Flash Review: Alex Trax

Alex TraxOverview:

Alex Trax is a free flash game from NeoDelight that stars a young Korean on a bicycle trying to make it back to a sweatshop because he forgot some keys or something. I’m really not sure, but he’s also sporting a wet suit, army helmet, and pink bike. This game sounds totally stupid, right? Well it’s not. The majority of the students in my electronics class in highschool (taught by one of the greatest men I’ve ever known, George Corey) played this game every single day until one of us were finally able to beat it. It’s a hard game.

The House of the Dead: Overkill Trailer

Sega is publishing a new House of the Dead game, sub-titled Overkill, exclusively for the Wii. This would’ve been a good post for Halloween, I know, but I just didn’t care too much that day. I was sick. Anyway, this game will be a prequel to the killer arcade franchise and will be released some time in 2009 and you can bet your scared little arse I’ll have a review on it ASAP. Check out the trailer, which I’ve embedded below. Note the extremely awesome Grindhouse flare to it.

PackRat Paragraphs: Pure Evil RE 2-Pack

The Resident Evil 2-Pack Pure Evil box set was a Gamecube game that featured both series prequel Resident Evil 0 as well as the acclaimed GCN revamp of the original Resident Evil. The promos life span was rather short causing the item’s appreciate over the years as well as become a rare gem sought after by many game collectors. The box set runs for about 65 dollars on Amazon.com, but I picked it up when it was first released for about 20 bucks if I remember right.
